The Policy Innovation Lab, a partnership between William & Mary’s Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) and the University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government, brings together researchers and students to synthesize and assess data collected through the TRAP Program. The Lab explores drivers of derelict trap abundance, bycatch, and other ecological or economic variables. Additionally, the Lab will look at how derelict traps and their impacts are managed presently. The Lab will focus on utilizing the knowledge gained during the removal period to develop state and federal policy recommendations to improve derelict trap prevention and mitigation.
